The Lenovo Chromebook Duet looks like the first Chromebook I actually want

OMG its much better than expected. It arrived about 40 minutes ago and I have just had a play. The build quality is amazing, even if it was more expensive. I have just installed a few Android apps and they are all running perfectly. So far very happy :0)

Also.... My main worry was the keyboard but it is fine, all the letter keys are about the same size as my PC keyboard keys. It's actually really easy to type on.

I'm getting more excited for mine now. Hopefully with me by the end of the week.

My USI pen will be with me tomorrow too, so that's every device except my daily desktop (that I only really use for work remotely due to the current circumstances) penned up and ready to go!

That's "Why is 60fps better", not "why do you need is on a chromebook external display for work".

 

Also it defaulted to playing at 720p30, so it looked exactly the same.

 

The thing you want to do is sync the led backlight flicker due to dimming to the refresh rate, to the framerate.

They're one and the same thing. 🤦

60fps is better because it's smoother, has less flicker, reduced tearing.

If you're connecting a tablet to your screen, chances are it's for entertainment purposes anyway, so 30fps would absolutely suffice for this particular device. It's not designed as a daily driver to run a screen all day.

 

Anyway, I won't be using it with an external monitor, so it's a moot point. 👍

The Duet is a great little device. I'm enjoying using it, especially with the USI stylus. It's far more practical, light and size appropriate, I find, than my Pixelbook for pen based inputs.

 

I think the 10e, the ruggedised version could really be excellent in schools. Especially if you can get the USI styluses to go with it, though I'd personally look towards EMR for schools as you don't have to charge the styluses then.

 

Like I previously said, its designed as a portable tablet device that can also be used as a laptop when needed. I don't plan on docking it to a screen anytime soon, the resolution and refresh rate of the USB-C to HDMI output has little to no practical relevance to me.

I would advise you to get hold of trial devices to get a feel of. I found that, for example, HP's devices are very flimsy compared to Acer and Dell. Asus was expensive compared to both them as well. I didn't look at Lenovo at the time I last looked, but with the special LGfL deal running, I would certainly look at one of them if I were buying now.
