[ms office - o365] Outlook 365 Client - OneNote add-in Protected view

Hi,

 

Have a bit of a weird one. We have a group policy set to disable protected mode in internet options (control panel) for Staff.

I'm not really sure why this is set as disabled, but I can't really change a GPO that has been set for 10 years for a reason unknown!

 

Basically with this disabled (protected mode OFF), a user is unable to open OneNote notes from his Outlook emails (from the menu bar at the top). As soon as the user enables protected mode, OneNote loads correctly in Outlook.

Obviously this then reverts thanks to group policy doing its job.

 

Any ideas on why this might be?
