mdrabble Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Our Head of year 7 would like to change from Paper based capture forms to electronic versions. She has asked if we can do this using MS Forms or possibly by the school website and a wordpress plugin. Apart from making sure data is secure etc.... Has anyone else gone down this route and what have you used? Cheers
MkII Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 We're trying. HoY7 creates lots of info gathering forms which has been a nice introduction. Printing for families without web access isn't well supported in MS Forms but it is possible with extended screenshots. You're also limited in the amount of text for legal type forms.
steveg Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 We put our school admission form into Microsoft Forms this year, as it was pretty tricky to get everyone to collect and then bring in paper forms. Also makes more sense having it all in the spreadsheet ready to input into sims than manually typing it all.
mdrabble Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 Wondering if PDF document with come sections for parents to complete would be better - that way they can be added to the students SIMS.net record.
mavhc Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Why would PDF forms be easier than Google/MS forms which just end up in a spreadsheet?

Has anyone else gone down this route and what have you used? Cheers Good idea. We used Google Forms extensively. Lots of advantages, including drop down lists to reduce data issues. Field validation at point of entry. Easier data input MIS. I would think most of the same can be handled with MS Forms. You'll still need an alternative for those who don't have access to the technology, or refuse to use it. We had one parent that refused to use Google Forms, because he didn't trust Google!
