pooley Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 As per title, Ht setup teams for staff, smt etc just before shutdown, used out own o365 org, no problem. Same HT is now looking at moving everything across to HWB (we are a wlsh primary) but would like to move his setup teams with him. Now HWB will arrange for use to continue to use our @school domain name instead of @hwb, will we be able to migrate or current teams setup across or is he looing at setting them up again in September. For the record, we decided in Feb we would use HWB from September and I advised he use hwb for this but he knew better obviously ..... Si
MkII Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Apparently Hwb Office 365 isn't connected to AD, so it would seem SDS won't be connected to auto create class teams. Seems like a backward step. We're all fed up to the back teeth here of the constant confusion and extra work that having two email accounts for everyone causes. I'm also worried about the loss of features and control if we were to migrate. Make the simplest request and Welsh Government want written permission from the Head.
pooley Posted April 29, 2020 Author Posted April 29, 2020 I notice it does seem to be a bit clunky, our LA are pushing for us to go over en masse. What sort of things are you asking for that the Head needs signing off on ?
MkII Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 (edited) I notice it does seem to be a bit clunky, our LA are pushing for us to go over en masse. What sort of things are you asking for that the Head needs signing off on ?We were told that WG wanted stats on attendance at Teams classes so we asked Hwb support. They wanted the HTs approval first. I asked if it was possible without having to bother the head and they said no [emoji1787] Microsoft were much more obliging. Pointed us to backend reporting, then signing in to Teams events in the logs. Suggested PowerBI but we gave up at that point. Used the Insight app in Teams to gather some stats. Have had a few blocks from Hwb support like that over the years. Usually helpful but always protracted. Interested to see how you find it after the move. Edited April 30, 2020 by MkII

Our school wants to move to Hwb for everything, I've explained the extra work and the lack of control that we will have and they seem to not be listening.

I told my SLT that if we use our own Office 365 instead of Hwb we could have School Data Sync set up the teams automatically and they didn't believe me!
