FragglePete Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Afternoon all - trust we're all keeping well? I took over a primary school this year which has had no IT investment for sometime. I'm just keeping them afloat for the time being. They stopped using SIMS over a year ago, moved to Pupil Asset which works well for them, however, they still use FMS. Just been informed they need to do Year End but need a patch to do so. FMS for them is just located on a PC running of all things Windows 7! I can see Solus3 is in place but hasn't showed any updates downloaded since April last year which would tally from when they stopped using SIMS. Checking for Updates yields no updates. However, I'm assured that they still pay the license for FMS, just not SIMS which they get from the LEA. With the current situation, they are struggling to get help from the LEA for support with FMS and getting this patch. Now, our Solus3 still pulls in all the updates for SIMS and FMS and I have identified the FMS package files for all the updates since the last version they have on their FMS (Spring 2019 Full Release). Two questions.... first, technically, can I just import those .pkg files up to the current release on their Solus3 and then deploy each of the updates in turn up to the latest release and patches? Secondly, I'm guessing this could be a licensing issue? If those packages aren't showing automatically in Solus3, then Capita believe they are not licensed to do so. However, as I said, they assure me they've paid the license for FMS. Do I just keep referring them to get in contact with the LEA as they should be able to get it to show up automatically for them? Appreciate your input. Thanks Pete
dapaulio Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Solus 3 updates are managed by the support company sounds like in your case the lea. If they paid them then they should be receiving updates to their solus 3. I would contact lea or capita to determine the support and thereafter if they have a valid license and support release the updates. 1
mavhc Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Often seems to get stuck, I end up calling council IT to fix it, so not really sure what they do at their end/remoting in 1
FragglePete Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 Thanks all - I'll wait until we here back from the LEA. The importing of packages doesn't work anyway - get an error about them not being in the database so can't be imported. Somebody somewhere gotta flick a switch to ensure their license is legit. Pete
