Office 365 Licence oddity

Ages ago one of my teachers logged in to office.com and downloaded Office 365 having logged in to it using his school credentials. He is now getting a message saying it is not activated and most of it's functionality will cease on May 1st. If he clicks re-activate and tries to sign in, it gives this;

 

 

It doesn't even ask for his password! In the 365 Admin Center against his account, it shows this;

 

 

That's correct isn't it?

Wouldnt it be Proplus (for staff) that needs to be turned on.

Need to assign a A1 Plus Licence if it is staff to use the full office version.

 

A1 will only allow Office on the Web version.

The only A1 plus licences I have are "Student" though, so if I assign that presumably it will muck up the Teams stuff for staff?

As if you have the student one I would have thought they would have white listed your domain.

If you have a staff account that you have not already assigned a Office 365 licence to, try going to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office and entering that accounts details into the page.

I am in the same boat for a school. Office 365 support banging on about you need a MS partner to get the A1 Plus licences. All that I am asking for is licences. Now waiting for Microsoft....

 

Must admit it is a poor process and frustrating waste of time trying to get someone to do something without blaming someone or something else.

We got the A1 plus assigned automatically at the same time as Plus for students, might be worth a phone call to MS licencing to ask why you haven't got the A1 Plus for Faculty licences, sometimes you just have to ask, like for KMS keys these days

I had this. The trick is to create a new staff account (Mr “a test”will do) but do not allocate it an office 365 licence. Then go onto the office link about 4 posts up and that should allocate you an A1 plus for faculty licence once Mr Test logs in. An account that has had a licence removed from it won’t do it, it has to be a brand new account.

Tried this and they got allocated "Office 365 A1 for Faculty" again once I'd logged them in. And I definitely didn't assign them a licence when setting up the account.

 

I really don't want to have to call them It's hard work!

Just to confirm, you now have A1 Plus for Faculty as well as the A1 Plus for Students?

We assign the licences via Azure based on group membership to ensure that students get the student one (and authorised apps), and staff get the Faculty ones

Nope, I still only have A1 Faculty, no Plus.
