Windows 10 Issue when using VPN

I'm mapping network drives via DFS share name. - \\domain

When i connect to a remote network via SSTP VPN i lose access to the network drives - however I can manually browse each individual server by its UNC path \\server1 and all works fine.

If i double click on any of the network drives it will hang for a bit and then come up with 'the user name of password is incorrect'

 

Why would dfs path lose access, but not server unc path when connected to a remote network over vpn connection?

 

Is something routing screwy?!

We sometimes have a minor issue with mapped drives (DFS share) showing the red cross when connected over VPN, but they still open just fine. DFS UNC paths also work normally. Not sure whether it's related but I'll be watching this thread closely!

My issue is the opposite. these mapped drives are not on the remote network.

 

They are local network mapped drives.

Ah, ignore me then. I imagine your issue will be DNS related.

Definitely DNS related have a look at the IP config of the VPN network connection.
