Hey Edu-IT. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you on this questions.

 

The Tape Archiving feature is used to take full Backup Copies of your Cloud Repository as a much cheaper alternative for long term retention periods than Spinning Disk, which is what your Cloud Repository would be stored on.

 

For example; if you decided to take out a Cloud Repository, you could set the retention of the Cloud Repository (Spinning disk Storage) to 14 days (2 weeks), giving you quick access to your VM backups, buy you could take a Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly backup to Tape of your Disk Repository and keep that "snapshot" in time on tape, in our fireproof tape safes for up to 7 years.
