Jawloms Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 In Exchange Management Console, I've just right clicked a mailbox and done "Manage Send As Permission", added someone and all is well. I've just done exactly the same again on a different mailbox, but with the same user as I assigned on the first mailbox and they can't send on behalf of. It bounces back saying they don't have permission. I tried giving them Full Access and have the same result. Why would this be please? Thank you Stuart
Domino Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 "Send as" and "send on behalf of" are different permissions: https://www.mustbegeek.com/grant-send-on-behalf-permission-in-exchange-2010-mailbox/ 1
Jawloms Posted March 24, 2020 Author Posted March 24, 2020 (edited) Thanks for this, makes sense, but if that's the case why can she send from one but not the other? Edited March 24, 2020 by Jawloms
Domino Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Does the bounce have any detail? If you're sure the permissions are consistent does the send as or users mailbox have permission to mail the target? 1
Jawloms Posted March 24, 2020 Author Posted March 24, 2020 She's gone now so I can't se the failure, but it was literally the one about "you don't have permission to send" so I did the "On behalf of" bit in the link you posted and it sorted it out. As far as I could see, everything else was the same for permissions, sending as/behalf, whatever else. I was getting them to email me each time from themselves or either of the other accounts I was trying to get working. All working now anyway so thank you very much.

If I have to do mailbox investigations after adding administrator access sometimes I can access straight away other times 15 minutes later. 1
