Updating OS from 10.9.5

Hi, I am trying to update our head teacher's MacBook Pro (Purchased around April 2014) but despite following various instructions online am unable to do it.

I will admit I am not really a Mac person.

Whenever I go to updates nothing is showing as available. I have updated another MacBook which is exactly the same, the only difference being that I had gone along with most updates in the past.

 

Any ideas?
