Win XP Kill off date changed again!!

Just been informed by my contact at Stone Computers that the original June kill off date for Win XP is still in effect.

 

Anyone confirm or deny this??

It's still *true*, but system builders will be able to bundle it with machines until January 2009.

I may have missed something, but even after Jan 09 you can still exercise the downgrade rights included in the Vista licence. As I understand it, if you're using an OEM's image, the OEM can install it if the customer requests it (at the OEM's discretion). Or if you're imaging the OS yourself, then you can do that as normal. No?

What you need to do is inform your contact that, in that case, you'll have to do business with another company that's willing to work around the issue

It wouldn't surprise me if the XP deadline gets extended. XP SP3 was a well needed update and many users are still running XP.

 

It doesn't take a genious to work out that Microsoft's tactics are informing the public and businesses just how many copies of Vista they're selling. Microsoft are extremely quiet about the actual number of Vista copies in use and not downgraded.

I've lost count the amount of times I've seen machines with the "Vista compatible" logo, but running Windows XP.
