mrstrong Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 As I never get to go on any training and am generally too busy to learn about new tech in my own / work time I feel I'm falling behind a bit with all the latest developments. Whilst browsing over lunch came across https://www.dmsystem.co.uk/technical-seminars which looks quite interesting. Has anybody ever attended these type of events? Are they worth it or is it likely to be a sales pitch? Perhaps I'd be better just going AWOL for the day with a laptop starting eg here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/azure/ 1
TechMonkey Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Book a weekly meeting that you only abandon for real emergencies or priority meetings. Use this meeting as R&D or CPD time. Investigate something you want to deploy or read up on a tech. If you book it then at least you can cancel it, if you don't it will never happen.

I haven't been for 3-4 years since I moved but I attended 2-3 and I learn't a lot. Yes there is a sell of their own software at some point in the day, but otherwise I learn't a lot and would recommend.
CPS-Stimmers Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 I've been thinking of training and things, this sounds like a great idea.
mavhc Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Most useful thing I went to was a free MS event, as they demo'd the new WDS system, wim files, adding drivers to the boot.wim etc, even though I was deploying XP I still used half of it, and then easy switch when moving to 7
