I'm putting a case together for moving our MAT secondaries from Sims to Bromcom, partly based on the ridiculous number of add-ons we have to buy to get the functionality we require. One package we use is Selima for HR, can Bromcom manage personnel at a Trust level or is at the individual school level but with the ability to report at the Trust level? Edited by sefton

I believe there is some specific functionality being developed aimed at the MAT level HR task but I know for the moment you can achieve something quite workable by having a discrete 'site' for MAT staff and with Vision you have the easy ability to report across all of your sites including your 'MAT' site.

How big is your MAT ? One of the best things for me as soon as you dealing with more than a couple of schools is the ability via a single set of credentials (google or 365) to click instantly between sites - its a little thing but as soon as your a central team working accross sites it makes the job workable rather than cumbersome. You can fluidly work across schools - for us in data and for our staff that work accross the MAT this quickly becomes habit but in comparison to a legacy app like SIMS, Facility its a game changer in terms of the speed you can do things.

So my ideal would be a single pool of staff you can 'deploy' to sites, so HR enter once and then have easy visibility of the whole workforce but for now our central HR team can work seamlessly between sites and crucially we have ability to report at Trust level. Doing some interesting work on staff absence at the minute and when we sort out the kinks at entry point the consolidated data is there for us at every level in a few clicks and there are some interesting trends to explore !

Think this will be on a few developers radars - dont think its been a selling point or at least not at the point of sale previously where as with the emergence of MATs its an growing demand where the abilities of an MIS to support efficient working and support central teams is key factor for people reviewing the market.

Thanks for that feedback. We’re not a large MAT, 3 secondaries and 5 primaries from September is what has been suggested, but the HR staff are used to using a single interface and I want the proposal I put forward to have as few downsides as possible as there is already inertia and a resistance to change.

Yeah so it is a single interface and would be quick to use. The only issue we have is where we have teachers working across multiple sites (were a tightly located MAT) we have to enter a shadow record into each MIS for timetable purposes where they teach. But again the single sign on works really well here so not too painful and really easy for the teachers themselves to log in and use the system at multiple sites. But at present I bet you enter them into your HR system and into your MIS so in total it is no more work involved and does Selma do SWF ? I’m thinking not so there could well be less work overall for the department if your MIS becomes your primary system for personnel records. Edited by DODICT
