genesis Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Hi We are planning to add new furniture with computers in a Design technology classroom. Please let me know if you know a company who can design furniture layout and supply furniture for this classroom. Any help much appreciated.
robyholmes Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 What sort of thing are you looking for? We normally go for 900mm wide worktop for computer rooms and the last one we did we got some legs made up to our design which allowed students to sit and not hit the legs.
PotNoodleTech Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 (edited) In my humble experience if you get one of those fancy educational furniture places in you'll end up paying tens of thousands of £pounds for fancy looking desks which ultimately do not contribute to any improvement in teaching or learning at all. For me, bog standard 800m deep cantilever desks are awesome, you can get them in all different sizes and you can kit out your it suite for a couple of grand and the desks are great - we've had them in our IT suites for 10+ years with almost no damage or issues, they're super strong and seem to last long!! https://www.ukofficedirect.co.uk/product/allegro-1800-x-800-rectangular-cantilever-workstation---grey-oak-top-and-white-legs-ref-ost1880recclwhgo/kek095 Something like that^^ choose your width depth colour etc and off you go. One other big benefit that most people overlook is that you can take these kind of desks and just move them around or into another room if you want. If the IT suite needs to be moved or whatever just grab the desks and go. Most of the fancy furniture is unmovable / made to measure / fitted. my 2p, Don't get me wrong the fancy stuff looks awesome, and I love it. BUT I am all about value for money VS educational outcomes and there is no proof whatsoever that spending £30,000 on furniture in just one of your 70 classrooms, improves your pupils outcomes or your exam results one iota. That money is way better off being spent elsewhere, where it could improve outcomes! Edited February 26, 2020 by PotNoodleTech 1
Quinny81 Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 I got some a while ago from future visuals. They're actually an IT company but can do the futniture aswell which made things easier when I ordered.
Areku Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 I've used https://www.macoi.co.uk/ a few times, each room ive had done has been designed and built to my specifications.
