Minimised Folders automatically Closing

Hello,

One of my users has been expereincing a frustrating issue. As part of her job she has lots of network folders open via Windows Explorer and she will minimise ones she doesn't need and will go back to them when she does.

 

However, she is finding that these minimised folders are automatically closing are a while (she has actually see this happen) meaning she has to go back into the folders again and reopen.

 

Not a massive issue, I appreciate, but it is proving quite frustrating for her.

 

Has anyone got any ideas of where to start to look for a solution? Maybe there is a GP setting

 

We are using Windows 10 Education, 1803

Are your drive mappings set with group policy? If so we found that if drives are set with "Replace" as the action then when GP refreshes, all File Explorer windows open on that drive will close. Presumably because GP removes the mapping and then remakes it. The solution is to set the action to "Update" instead.

Thanks for replying - I have had a look at the GP Settings and funnily enough the 2 mapped drives that the lady is having issues with ARE set to Update already!

Odd! I guess you could check if it is GP related by sitting at their desk, opening a bunch of folders then running a gpupdate. If they all go then you'll know for sure that something in GP is the culprit at least.
