Unlocking BitLocker with TPM - should I clear the TPM?

I am planning rollout BitLocker and use TPM 1.2 to automatically unlock - is it necessary to clear/initialize the TPM before I start the encryption process?

 

Plan to backup BitLocker Recovery Key to AD.

If so it will ask you. I seem to recall TPM 1.2 required local user to type a code into the computer when it rebooted to enable TPM

No issues with TPM on Dell Latitude 5470/5570/3470 Just had to make sure Bios was on the latest release.

 

Turned on TPM and enabled there. Started Windows and started bit locker. Key backed up to text file and AD.

So the way forward is not to clear. These devices were in use and I'm not sure if the TPMs were used at any point and stored anything.. - hope they don't cause issues. Edited February 24, 2020 by Ertech
