Creating a School App

Hi,

 

I have been asked to create an app for our school. Has anyone else done this or can point me in the right direction of who to use or which websites to look at?

 

It needs to be able to be accessed by teachers to upload to from what they have been doing during the school day. I think they want it as a kind of a Facebook app almost which links to our website also.

Many schools use social media for this and link a feed to their website. Any reason the School don't want to use social media, seems a bit of a waste of time and resource "re-inventing the wheel".

Would something like ClassDojo not be easier? Essentially Twitter for the school, also allows for communications with parents as far as I'm aware, and works as a rewards system.

 

There's also Edmodo, which used to be free and was almost a private social network.

 

I've also used Elgg in the past for something similar, however not sure how it'd work as an app.

What do you want the app to do? What platforms? Will people need to log in? Where will the server run?

 

Can you do it all with a PWA instead, that's what everyone's switching to, I installed SuperPWA plugin for wordpress, and as if by magic, my website now has an Install button, and it pretends to be an app. Use OneSignal for free notifications, etc etc
