Uploading Data to GSuite using Filezilla Pro

Hi,

 

One of the biggest hurdles i've come across migrating schools data to GSuite is getting things like shared drives up to in Google Drive.

 

Google Drive/Filestream client can't seem to handle 1000's of folders being uploaded

 

I've noticed Filezilla Pro can upload direct to Google Drive. Has anyone used this method? I'm trialling it at the moment but after experience from anyone that used it. Anything has to be better than clicking and dropping folders manually.

There's a discount for schools and it very customisable.

We currently sync our on-site shared staff drive to gsuite shared drive every few minutes and it's been great.

Another use case is to delete any scanned files older than 3 days by moving to the recycle bin.

@southhamster I want to get away from the whole sync thing and just move the data over. Our onsite shares are now mostly read only

When I complete some Google Cloud Platform training, I learnt Google do look to support massive (corporate) size migrations. There were a number of options, including local loading to massive disk arrays which were shipped to Google centres. I have found that under GSuite, the guidance for migrations is not so well promote. Apparently GSuite Migrate was formerly AppBridge.io, until Google bought them - see http://www.edugeek.net/forums/cloud-services/181219-g-suite-appbridge.html

 

Now, the fly in the ointment is that this is only available for GSuite enterprise for Education - perhaps you could have that on a paid for basis for the period of the migration, and then downgrade to GSuite for Education.

I'm looking to take advantage of the current situation and migrate a lot of our fileshares into google whilst all the bandwidth is mine alone.

 

Can anyone recommend me a product that will allow me to be selective when choosing what to upload, or alternatively mass copy certain network shares up.

 

I looked at filezilla pro but our LA have got all the ports locked down.

I've uploaded 2TBs of files so far to GDrive with rsync, encrypted backups of individual files, but you could just not encrypt them if you don't mind other people reading them
