Smoothwall Licence Expiry

Can anyone tell me the consequences of running a Smoothwall box if the licence has expired ? What will stop working ? Is it just the blocklist subscription that will stop ? Before anyone suggests this is not a good thing to be doing, I realise this, but there's a slight possibility this situation may arise for us for a short period of time and I'd like to know the consequences in advance.

It'll keep working but as you say the blocklists will no longer update

In addition to blocklist not updating, system updates will also not be available.

SW told a new customer of ours that the whole thing would stop working as soon as the licence expired, which caused a panicked migration off the old SW box as soon as possible, but it sounds like that info was incorrect (?).

 

Sounds like you have a replacement already lined up, but if not we'd be happy to give you a quote.

That is normally not the case when the license expires - we can manually expire the license in case of issues so the information is correct in that way.
