Ernie Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Does anyone know if it’s possible and if so how to save a prepared Critical Message alert in NetSupport Notify. Thinking of Lockdown of course and the time to write a message Thanks Ern
CHiLL Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Not that I know of, though we don't use Notify anymore for Lockdown. When we did use it, we just quickly wrote LOCKDOWN in both the caption and message, set the message type to Critical. We currently use Impero to Broadcast to all screens. The broadcast is from the server, where we have two images saved - a red image with LOCKDOWN in black text and a green image with CLEAR in black text. When the broadcast is initiated, we have the LOCKDOWN image displayed. When the all-clear is given, we quickly switch to the CLEAR message. It's not ideal, but we find that a better solution than NetSupport (given we only have Notify on our teacher/office computers).

Ernie Posted January 27, 2020 Author Posted January 27, 2020 Created a Lock down message on Friday, this morning disappeared in the ‘History’. Notify is good for those instant messages. However, for those just in case messages there seems to be a flaw. I would have thought a save option would be a necessity. We had hoped that a Lock Down message, could have easily been accessed. Ern
markwilfan Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Have you got the ADMX files in your GPO repositories? We control this via group policy
The_Techie Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Yes you can, we use it for lockdown triggered by a link put on staff computers. You can do a pre-configured message using VBScript from a machine that already has the console installed and also target all or select computers. our link targets the computer with the VBScript which in turn sends the lockdown critical alert along with siren noise to speakers in the external parts of the campus
MW_NetSupport Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Hi Ernie, The emergency response feature in NetSupport Notify can be configured either locally, or via Group Policy. The local configuration can be set by going to C:\Program Files (x86)\NetSupport\NetSupport Notify and running AgentConfig.exe, then selecting the Emergency Response tab. You will then have the following options: Send an emergency response - This need to be ticked to allow the machine to send emergency response messages. Emergency message - Set the message you want to send here. Hot keys - Select the keys you want to use to trigger the emergency response, we recommend using a three key combination to minimise the risk of accidental triggers. Show feedback when message sent - When this is ticked you will get a message acknowledging the emergency response has been sent. Allow this computer to receive emergency response messages - Tick this if you want the machine to be able to receive emergency response messages. From memory I don't think you can send an emergency response message to yourself, so you will need this option enabled on at least one other machine on your network to test with. Once you have set the desired options click the General tab and re-enter your Notify Server key before clicking OK to save the settings. Alternatively you can configure the above via Group Policy, the templates can be found on a machine with the Notify Console installed under C:\Program Files (x86)\NetSupport\NetSupport Notify\ADM Templates\ADMX. Let me know if you have any further questions.
