YouTube Approval via G-Suite not working

Does anyone on here use the Approval rights in G-Suite to whitelist particular YouTube videos that would normally be blocked by Restricted Mode? So far I've done this...

 

• create an OU in G-Suite
  
• create a service user for IT in new OU
  
• override YouTube App settings for this OU to "Can approve videos"
  
• waited over the weekend for changes to take effect
  

Still no sign of the blue Approve button when signed into YouTube - however the IT user account does seem to have Unrestricted YouTube browsing so the rights seem to have applied but the UI button doesn't appear.

 

Can see a couple of threads on G-Suite support but no resolutions, anyone got any ideas as it seems Google aren't particularly fussed to support this feature

Phew sorted with the suggestion right at the bottom of the first link

 

Go to the Admin console, go to Apps-> Additional Google services -> YouTube in the YouTube service you need to check the checkbox "signed in users in your organization can only watch restricted and approved videos.

Another word of caution. Don't try and use a single shared account for Youtube administration as this will break. Each teacher will require a G Suite login and permssion to administer Video restrictions. May seem obvious but initially I used a single G Suite login for teachers to administer Youtube content but it stopped working after a while and advice from Google was to use individual accounts which resolved the issue.

Also the list of sites you can view on youtube when no logged in is greater than those when you are logged in, which kind of missed the point. And searching for approved videos didn't work last time I looked.

Yes.

We use it all the time.

 

Year 7-11 have restricted permissions, sixth form have moderate permissions and staff have unrestricted.

 

If you're not logged in, I don't think you get anything - certainly not a lot.

Have you got DNS or your Smoothwall/firewall adding the modification to force all traffic to restricted?

 

Otherwise non-logged in users will get everything.

 

Once the modification is on, forcing everything to restricted, that's when GSuite can get involved and govern who gets what.

I'd set it via dns, the test page doesn't seem to report any useful info though, so no idea. My problem was restricted wasn't that restricted, what I'd like would be: 0 videos available if not logged in, when logged in only approved videos available.
