VLC subtitles help

I have a DVD I need to transfer to Mp4 to play over a network.

 

The DVD is in Welsh with subtitles in Welsh for the few Spanish language parts

 

The teacher wants everything subtitled in English, but I can't find the setting in VLC to disable the Welsh and have only English. The two languages overlay and become unreadable.

 

 

Am I missing something?

Could be. Trying again with the option set to position at the top. It must work with a regular DVD player!

If I move the subtitles up 100px, the embedded subtitles move too. So they can't be hardcoded?

If I play the DVD straight in VLC, the subtitles are off until you select English or Welsh.. and then it's perfect.

Just .BUP .IFO and .VOB

I extracted the subtitles to the MP4 so they should be in there - exploring

You didn't hardcode the subtitles by mistake when transcoding did you?

If it's for VLC could just rip the ISO, then it's just a dvd on your server

 

MP4 you'd have to make sure you've included all the subtitle tracks, and then they should be able to pick which one they want.

 

First check you have all the tracks, and play it with no subtitles to check nothing appears.
