Windows 10 Education changes to Pro...

Hi

Very random issue that I've never come across before and can't fathom out. We've built some HP desktops recently to Windows 10 Education (1809), once built we've logged on checked activation, etc they're also showing in our console at Win Edu 10 machines.

Come into the office the next day and they've become Windows 10 Pro machines...

I've created a new build disk, checked the activation key and all states Windows 10 Education.

How/why??

Thanks

changing the product key can change the windows version but I'm sure this is strictly an upward change. I've reset an upgraded surface book from pro to edu, I was forced to perform a reset and it placed it back to windows pro.

It does sound like you're activating with a Pro key...

I agree but I've checked on the Microsoft Volume Licensing Centre and it's the Win 10 Education key I'm using. Plus all our other PCs have built to Win 10 Edu and not changed...
