TMBS Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Hi Very random issue that I've never come across before and can't fathom out. We've built some HP desktops recently to Windows 10 Education (1809), once built we've logged on checked activation, etc they're also showing in our console at Win Edu 10 machines. Come into the office the next day and they've become Windows 10 Pro machines... I've created a new build disk, checked the activation key and all states Windows 10 Education. How/why?? Thanks
bald_pig Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 It does sound like you're activating with a Pro key...
chazzy2501 Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 changing the product key can change the windows version but I'm sure this is strictly an upward change. I've reset an upgraded surface book from pro to edu, I was forced to perform a reset and it placed it back to windows pro.
TMBS Posted October 24, 2019 Author Posted October 24, 2019 It does sound like you're activating with a Pro key... I agree but I've checked on the Microsoft Volume Licensing Centre and it's the Win 10 Education key I'm using. Plus all our other PCs have built to Win 10 Edu and not changed...
bald_pig Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Run "slmgr /dlv" on one of the machines, is the information there matching what you expect to see?
