Dear All,

Has anyone migrated from SQL 2012 to SQL 2016 for SIMs?

I am interested to know if this has any affect on performance, end user experience post upgrade.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Kind regards

We upgraded to 2016, what a nightmare. I downloaded all the guides, got given a bunch of software to install. Spent the majority of two weeks doing this on a freshly built server and half the time on the phone to Capita with bits that didn't exist in the documentations. Like the document server which just installs and works..... yet it didn't.....

The performance has actually dropped a bit but we upgraded the current server to Server 2016 and SQL 2016. The bad news was it didn't fix our constant memory errors in certain aspects of SIMs but we now have some SQL maintenance plan tasks (which apparently should be run often by everyone anyway)...

Still, Capita Support were 10/10 during the upgrade with me constantly phoning them up.

I built a new sims server in summer 2018 when i migrated to W10 (was a whole new domain as well) with server 2016 and sql 2016 and its been fine *touch wood*, install went super smooth with no issues at all.

Just downloaded the sql files from MS and the SIMS install files from Capita, think I had it all done in a couple of hours.
