Low budget laptop for home use

I'm after a cheap laptop (refurb with warranty would be OK) for use as a 2nd home machine. I already have an OK PC (P4 2.8GHz, 1Gb RAM DVD+-RW etc), and a WLAN.

 

My only requirements are as follows

 

- Bargain basement price (< £400)

- WLAN (ideally integrated, but a USB/PC-CARD dongle would be OK)

- DVD-ROM (so I can watch movies)

- 14.1" or better screen

 

I've looked at Morgan and ComputerBargains. Anywhere else I could try?

You could get a brand-new Dell laptop for under £400.

Go to Tescos or Asda. You can pick them up for under £400 now. Or try http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk for end of line stock and refurbs.

I bought a bunch of Thinkpad R50es from them for a student loan pool (Not my idea!). ex vat price was £359. Next day delivery. We use Dell & Toshiba in school, these look tougher than the Latitude D510s too.

 

You might also consider the Dell outlet store too. I bought a Latitude D600 from them for personal use 2 years ago....

I'm using a Toshiba Satalite that one of my schools was about to skip. I put some more ram in it (ebay, 20 quid), added a 54g wireless card (another school, free), and Ubuntu Linux (cost of burning the CD) on it.
