Annoying issue - spacebar not working on Toshiba Z40-A-140 laptop

I'm having a quite infuriating issue on a Toshiba Tecra Z40-A-140 laptop. I've just installed Windows 10 x64. Everything is working hunky-dory, apart from the keyboard space bar. Even all of the function keys work correctly. There is no damage to the space bar key, so I'm fairly certain this is software-related.

I've tried all of the generic windows keyboard drivers. There doesn't seem to be a keyboard driver on the Toshibe website. Closest I could find from Toshiba were the function key utility program and the touchpad driver. Both installed and both didn't fix it.

Win10 treats is as a Standard PS/2 keyboard, and auto chooses that as its driver. Hardware ID of the keyboard is TOS7407.

Does anyone have any bright ideas? I'm at a loss.

Can be a bit hit and miss, but might be worth seeing if something like IOBit Driver Booster picks anything up. It's not something I would normally use, but if there isn't a released version from the manufacturer then it can be a bit of a blessing.

Quick warning though, it will get you to try installing other software etc, so be aware. And similarly, on use make sure you select drivers carefully (so don't just install all!)

Gave IObit a go - no joy. It said that the currently installed standard Microsoft driver from 2006 was up to date. Thanks anyway.

Also reseated the cable, and the key itself. No joy.

Argh!!!!!

Have you got any other of the same model? That way, you can confirm if the membrane is damaged, or if the ribbon has become damaged at some way?

A USB keyboard works fine. I tested a couple of different boot CD environments, and it didn't work with either of them - so must have been a hardware fault. It was purchased from ebay so I've raised a return. Thanks for your help anyway chaps and chapettes! Much appreciated.
