chazzy2501 Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 Wix tech support are telling me that I need to add an "a record" pointing my domain "beaminster.dorset.sch.uk" to point at the wix ip.. I have for a long time had a cname record pointing the address "www.beaminster.dorset.sch.uk" to wix, I thought that should be enough... I'm almost certain that if I did create the "a record" they request all other internet addresses (the non www ones) would break. This they tell me is why the TLS cert no longer works. (although it had worked for over a year prior to this)
Foresthippy Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 In my experience setting domainname.com doesn't break subdomain.domainname.com records, if that's what you mean.
mavhc Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 can you explain more what the things are you're worried will break?
aicrd Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 Setting the root domain (domain.com) to a site will not change subdomains (mail.domain.com). Subdomains will only redirect if you do a Wildcarded DNS entry (*) which then redirects all traffic to the IP you specify.
