Hi

I been left with 15 ZyXEL switches that have not been configured after the company we employed did a runner.

What I want to set up is a VLAN for our VOIP phones. I have never set up a VLAN before and have limited networking knowledge. What I need to know before I attempt this is:

Can I setup a VLAN that will allow all VOIP phones to connect to, regardless of what switch they're plugged into? Currently we have 39 phones that are plugged into all 15 switches.

If a phone does not have a dedicated network port and is connected through the computer can I still add to the VLAN?

More questions to come once I know I can do the above or not!

Many thanks :D

Guessing you would have a trunk between switches with will allow the vlans to pass thorough, yes you should be able to , i think you would set the port as untagged the port for the pc vlan (If you have one) and then taggged on the phone vlan
