Hi

I have had a week of email ping pong with Show my homework as in Edge and Internet Explorer the 365 login SSO is redirecting users to a 404 Error page on SMHW webservers.

Works in chrome though and the only support I can receive at the moment is to contact the Network Manager... which is me!

They have not collected any diagnostics and not engaged in the problem, it seems like they are looking at it from afar and guessing.

Are there any local ie settings that is needed for SMHW as with onedrive or 365 azure sign on. Anyone got any tips for getting it working as support cannot help.

It is very sad as we are professional school and with these problems they cannot be resolved quickly it does not look good to our community!

Regards,

Darren

Tbh sounds like they are sat on a known problem and brushing you off.

These sort of problems in my experience have either been proxy related or temporary problems with the host (SMHW).

Can you sign in anywhere else? If you can.... then...

Are you sat behind a proxy? If yes...

Try whitelisting the site.

If you use https inspection try excerpting the site.

Even try bypassing the proxy completely.

Iv had the rare occasion where Smoothwall cause inconsistent outputs behaviour between ie and chrome. Most of the other times it was the host fault (not limiting it to SMHW but hosts in general) and it miraculously fixed itself.

Only issue I have with SMHW O365 login is the fact that in this day and age it uses a pop up to make it work. Have you tried enabling pop ups in IE and Edge. I have complained about the design of the code for the auth to need a pop up but all I get back from SMHW Support was you can enable pop ups in a GPO. When I asked about all users at home not on network they told me we have to tell all users to enable pop ups for O365 auth to work WTF!!

Thank you I had the same conversation about the popups too!

I have whitelisted the site and bypassed https inspection and still get the error

404 error is a sMHW 404 page on their servers, so I am on their servers. What would help is if they could assist in diagnosing the issue on their end but they just ignore that question.

1 week on, no diagnostics information taken

1 week on, no fix given

I am at the mercy of a what I have gleamed is a carefree support team..

Ask the support person/team to escalate to a team leader/manager - seems like they need something to push them in to action. Asking for diagnostics is a perfectly reasonably request so they should help. Do you know if your support arrangement has a service level agreement?
