GoldenWonder Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I've been using the free version of WinInstall LE to create MSI packages for Active Directory deployment for a while. It works, but has its limitations so I'm looking to buy a proper version - does anyone have any advice/comments on the best one available for a reasonable cost? We're on a Windows vanilla network - no RM/CC stuff!
meastaugh1 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I use Wise Package Studio and find it much more useful than Wininstall LE and MaSaI (before it was acquired by script logic). As for the cost, I guess it depends how you define reasonable, but it certainly isn't cheap.
tosh74 Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I use advanced installer from Free Windows Installer - MSI Installer Tool Easy to use and has not let me down yet
plexer Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 tosh: do you just use the free version or did you purchase it? If you purchased it which one did you go for and how easy was it to purchase for the school? Thanks, Ben
GoldenWonder Posted May 16, 2008 Author Posted May 16, 2008 Cheers - I'm going to try that Advanced Installer freeware and see how it performs.
zshadar Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I checked the Free Windows Installer - MSI Installer Tool and it looks like a tool for developers, doesn't look as you can create a snap shot before and after. There is a list of software on appdeploy.com but I would also like someone to recommand one, beside wise that cost something like £3000. Regards
plexer Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Free Windows Installer - MSI Installer Tool does indeed offer a snap shot function. Ben
