CC3 Allocating MS Office 2003 Fails

Hi, sorry if this is posted somewhere else, but I can't seem to search for RM or CC3! (new to RM)

 

Our Core Programs seemed to randomly disappear (Office mainly) so I deallocated and reallocated it.

 

The deallocation went fine, course the reallocation did not. Turned out there was an error in the package when it was run.

 

So created a new package and reallocated again. This seems to run through but although the Office suite appears to be installed the shortcuts don't appear in core programs (have redistributed).

 

Now 2 rooms seem to be ok but the majority of the rest still don't have a working version of Office. Is there a specific RM package for this?

 

If I open an exisitng Office file, the application launches but then the windows installer runs and then comes up with a really long error. Another error was like "excel has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup"

 

I am strugglijng - this has bee an issue for 3 days now (and why does deallocaton and allocaton take so long anyway?!)

Checked the ini files on some of the workstations where I am having problems - they all say that the msi Installed.

Do you use just one DC to deploy the packages?

How are you creating the package?

 

Did mine quite a while ago but I seem to remember having to run a file on the CD from the command prompt with a few switches. This creates the MSI for you.

 

Was just a case of dropping it in the application folder then. (Had to create the shortcuts myself for CC3 but that was about it.
