WCHS_Panthers Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 I hope this is the correct forum. If not please move. I just configured my new WSUS server and there are a lot of download options available. My environment is pretty simple. All windows 10 1803 EDU x64. All I want is the Critical updates and Security updates. Ive already gone through and checked off what I thought was not necessary. But I am not sure really about most. For instance... I am not wanting any creator, anniversary or fall updates. I will just create a new image next summer with 19xx and start from scratch. For me its just easier that way. Does anyone have any recommendations Another reason I am asking is...even though I un checked updates for ALL versions except for 1803 I still had quite a few version showing up.
computer_expert Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 From windows 10 1507 to 1809, updates fall under the windows 10 product. W10 1903 has a separate product which you have to enable (I think there will be a separate product for the next build of windows 10 too). I sync the 'Windows 10' product (possibly features on demand too but I can't check at the moment). I don't sync any of the other products. I've seen WSUS instances where syncing drivers effectively killed them requring a fresh install & new database to speed it up
WCHS_Panthers Posted August 28, 2019 Author Posted August 28, 2019 Right now I am just seeing security and definition updates. So for me that is what I was wanting. I was just unsure if I needed to check mark anything else..
ITGuyNW Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 I've just setup a WSUS server and just checked the Windows 19 1903 option as we are just using the 1903 variant here. I don't think we need to check anything else..
mavhc Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 WSUS is dead, time to upgrade to the cloud! http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-10/207846-update-compliance.html
