I am looking to install and configure HAP on an intranet server without its own AD instance, but unsure if this is possible? Whilst there is no means of entering the AD server info on the setup interface, it's technically viable (i.e. tell an application to look to a remote server for the AD), but I wondered if HAP can do this within its own config, even if not within the setup gui?

Hi Nick, I can't determine from your response if you're suggesting that it can be done by undertaking the latter in your response (which is vague in itself) or if you are saying there is no way I can get this working on a server without it's own AD store? Could you clarify?

Do you mean that you want to install HAP on a server which is a domain member but not a domain controller or do you want to install it on a completely standalone server? I would be extremely surprised if HAP couldn't be installed on a member server; installing anything other than ADDS and related services on a domain controller is seriously bad practice.

HAP+ needs to be installed on a server which is domain joined. It is strongly recommended not to install HAP+ on a domain controller.

So really it was more just about getting advice as to whether it *could* be on a server without AD replication, when it seems you're suggesting it perhaps should be? I was just a bit concerned when I didn't see any config area to specify a server with AD replication on, but having gone through initial config it doesn't seem to have stopped it from pulling down AD groups, so I guess this concern is irrelevant!

I just need to figure out why the drives aren't loading now in the my files section (having configured the drives and quota services respectively)..

It connects to AD via standard AD calls, much the same as login into a computer.

You may encounter the issue with v10.6 where my files doesn't work, you will need v10.5 for that to work correctly.

v10.6 is for Azure App Proxy and SSO deployment
