chazzy2501 Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 This is probably more interesting if you don't have RM Unifi. We currently use the staffproxy.swgfl.org.uk and use the staffproxy login page etc. But that stops embedded youtube etc. from working. so… sslfilter.policy1.proxy.swgfl.org.uk policy2 etc. you can apply different filters to each and custom filter lists as well. This finally means I can setup separate proxies for Staff, Admin, 6th form and pupils. No additional logins and working embedded youtube. It's also mean I can see youtube videos here on edugeek at last! They also offer ip address range filtering as well if you're using the transparent filter.
Boredguy Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 We did away with the staffproxy 2 years ago when the User based filtering came in. It's only in the last few months that the extra proxy servers appears that you can then assign different policies per proxy for those devices that are BYoD so can't use the user based filtering. Same with the IP range which we are going to use next term when our staff BYoD will be sent via a different IP so we can be a little bit more lax (same for our sixth form) There is also an option coming soon that you can signin via Unify to get UBF via the transparent proxy as long as you are not behind a NAT
AJWhite1970 Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 The other thing they kept secret (well from me anyway) is the youtube settings that are now in the filtering admin page, from off (which ours was with hysterical consequences...) to walled garden to on with safe searching settings as well.... I reckon with the combination of RM filtering and Netsupport DNA I can tick most of my safeguarding/filtering boxes with the new settings

chazzy2501 Posted July 11, 2019 Author Posted July 11, 2019 Don't you need RM Unifi to use the "user based filtering"?
TDupont992 Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Don't you need RM Unifi to use the "user based filtering"? When I used RM SafetyNet (Not through swgfl mind) it came with a lite version of RM Unifi that had the functionality, didn't have to buy it extra or anything.

OK, where do I get this software from and how do I use it? I'm looking on the service portal...
Boredguy Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 If you do not already have the User Based Filtering up and running @chazzy2501, give the help desk a call as they will need to arrange for the basic version of Unify to get setup, and for the RM AD Sync tool to be installed onto your primary DC and configured to your Unify details. You can install the client onto other DC's once the initial setup is done. 2
steve_forbes Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 Hi, Steve Forbes here and I'm the Product Manager for SafetyNet. Apologies I'm late to the thread. As @Boredguy said, if you log a support call they can arrange for you to get the AD sync agent and enable User Based Filtering as long as your contract includes it. Transparent User Based filtering is now available to SWGfL customers and many others, again a support call can get this enabled for you - it will soon be self-enabled through the admin console. Lastly, we haven't just updated our support pages so if you login to the admin console and go to the support pages you will see all new articles to help you with the new features. There is also a home page where we are announcing new features etc. Hopefully that will mean no-one feels any new features are hidden from them again! Let me know if you have any questions or feedback. 1
