[sims] The connection has been dropped (MSSQL)

The connection has been dropped because the principal that opened it subsequently assumed a new security context, and then tried to reset the connection under its impersonated security context. This scenario is not supported. See "Impersonation Overview" in Books Online.

 

Yesterday the event log recorded the error 14 times in a row in the space of about 15 minutes... I've done a bit of Googling obviously.

 

I don't want to mess about with it too much as I have no SQL experience... All the Google results go way over my head and there seems to be so many different reasons this error appears, I just wondered if there is anything more relevant to SIMS that someone on here would recognise...

 

I've checked with all the SIMS users if everything is ok and nothing seems to be amiss.

 

However, I have no clue if it's a serious error or where to even start troubleshooting!

We had a load of those - but it didn't appear to be causing an issue.

 

Don't think we followed up as even Capita's guidance on it was vague and non-committal.

I've found it is 3rd party applications that link to SIMS that cause this on our systems, I never managed to track down which one(s) and it didn't seem to be causing any problems for anyone so I let it be.

We had this this morning and during the time these events were logged, users were reporting it was slow to login to SIMS.

 

The user value in the event log is the MIS manager. So.. not sure about this one...
