SYNACK1 Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Hi all, Got a redirected start menu... all appears fine except when I add new shortcuts to the redirected start menu share the new ones do not appear.. any ideas? Works fine on windows 7 the newly added ones show.. Thanks
SYNACK1 Posted June 20, 2019 Author Posted June 20, 2019 Yea just redirecting appdata.. no roaming profile path specified
Oaktech Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I'm not sure redirected appdata is a good idea... We get all sorts of weirdness on W10 at the site that does that.
Oaktech Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Local... Redirected start menu, docs. That's it. Local appdata, local downloads. Profiles removed by script every 30 days. 1
SYNACK1 Posted June 21, 2019 Author Posted June 21, 2019 Think its the redirected appdata causing the issue?
Oaktech Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 I would lay reasonable money on it... Although, having said that, it's worth a try to add domain computers as read to the security filtering on all redirection GPOs. 1
SYNACK1 Posted June 21, 2019 Author Posted June 21, 2019 Thanks Gonna have a look at this now its showing that the gpo itself is been succesfully deployed.. its just when I add new shortcuts to the share they are not updated on the end users redirected start menu
BOOT Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 Running sihost.exe is a way to 'reboot' the shell. Might be worth a try.
SYNACK1 Posted June 21, 2019 Author Posted June 21, 2019 Just tried that no joy though but thanks for the suggestion.... ahhhhh this is doing my head in - - - Updated - - - just tried adding domain computers but no joy.. thanks for the suggestion though
Arthur Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 Do you shortcuts appear if you copy them to: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs 1
Arthur Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 Are the shortcuts you are adding to the Start Menu, shortcuts to applications, network shares or websites? 1
SYNACK1 Posted June 21, 2019 Author Posted June 21, 2019 Right Ive just linked apps directly instead of trying to embed them in folders and it seems all good now.. so thanks for questioning the above. Thanks to all that helped. SO glad its Friday! have a good weekend all!
techy32 Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Right Ive just linked apps directly instead of trying to embed them in folders and it seems all good now.. so thanks for questioning the above. Thanks to all that helped. SO glad its Friday! have a good weekend all!We are experiencing the same issue with shortcuts which are not appearing for redirected Start Menu on Windows 10 v1903 but they are perfectly fine for Windows 7. All older links are fine and available for both 7 & 10. We are testing windows 10 with local profile. Could you please explain how did you resolve the issue? Thank you
