rf600 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Morning, Been a while but school are finally getting a new server, but what do i need licencing wise? looking at server 2019 we don't have a EES agreement, the school has always bought computers with pro licences on them and then the licences for office from the council so what do I actually need to buy? I know I'll need the licence for server 2019, but do I need cals aswell? or are they part of buying pro licences? Is there anything else we need? spoke to a unhelpful licence lady the other day and I'm now more confused than I was before. Cheers
hallb15 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 You'll need to buy Client Access Licenses separately, enough to cover all computers in your school. If you're going virtual, you need a server license for every VM. I'd speak to a reputable supplier - there's plenty around on edugeek - to find out exactly what you need as MS do change the rules quite often. For starters, I'd get in touch with VeryPC @VeryPC_Colin_M for a new server, or ICT Direct @ICTDirect_Dave if you're OK with refurbished. 3
johnlevis Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Hi @rf600 Server licencing is based on the number of cores and the number of vm's - feel free to get in touch John Levis | Software and Solutions Specialist Tel: 0114 321 8609 very-pc.co.uk [email protected]
