TwistedHelixis Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 Hello all. I have the instructions for migrating Sims & FMS after installing a new version of SQL on the same server, but I do not have instructions for migrating Solus3. I contacted my support (LA) but they just sent me instructions for migrating to a completely new serer, and I probably only need about 10% of what they sent over. Does anyone have some nice simple steps they can send me?
TwistedHelixis Posted June 12, 2019 Author Posted June 12, 2019 Well I have done a search and the only posts I can find are people with the same issue that have ended up leaving Solus3 running on the older version of SQL, which cant be right. Someone must have migrated Solus3 to a new version of SQL at some point.
MrMat Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 (edited) I can tell you one thing, it's not fun! I'll DM you the Capita notes. **EDIT** - Ignore that, i just read your original message properly. Sorry i thought you were moving servers. Doh! Where's the coffee... It's not too bad if i remember correctly. Detach S3 DB from old (keep a backup incase) Attach S3 DB to new Run the SOLUSDatabase install and point it at the new instance. It'll say 'there's already an S3 DB, would you like to upgrade?' or something along those lines. Say yes. Open up the S3 UI, Settings>SOLUS3>SOLUS and change the Database Instance if required. I believe that's correct but havent done it in a while. I'll double check this afternoon. I've got a test S3 setup that i'll try move to a difference instance (on diff SQL) Edited June 12, 2019 by MrMat 1
TwistedHelixis Posted June 12, 2019 Author Posted June 12, 2019 @MrMat Its the first few bits I could do with some more info, if that's OK. What is the best way to take a backup of the Solus3 database and then detach it and re attach it? Is this all done from SQL Manager or some other tool?

They don't provide any tools to do like they do with SIMS (so no Migration tool or DBAttach etc). 1
TwistedHelixis Posted June 12, 2019 Author Posted June 12, 2019 Yeah it's all done via SQL Manager. OK, I will have a play in SQL Manager
TwistedHelixis Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 @MrMat I have just migrated Sims / FMS and also imported Solus3. Just realised my LA have not supplied me with SOLUSDatabase install software you mentioned. Any chance you can share this with me as I really wanted to get this done and dusted today
TwistedHelixis Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 BTW when I open Solus3 all the agents statuses are listed as offline, including the Sims server. This is after updating all the instances I can find in the GUI from 2012 to 2016. Everything else seems fine in Solus3 I have also just had a look on my LA FTP server for the SOLUSDatabase install software you mentioned but it is not anywhere, are you sure this is the correct name of the software?
bobsmith Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 https://myaccount.capita-cs.co.uk/Notifications/SIMS-Release-Download-Links/ However I'm not going to be the one to break the rules and give you a copy of the file directly. If you've got SIMS you should have an account - it doesn't matter who your support provider is. (at least I've still got access after dumping the enhanced support contract).
TwistedHelixis Posted June 17, 2019 Author Posted June 17, 2019 @bobsmith Thanks but when I click that link and login i get.... We are sorry, the item you are looking for may have expired or been removed. Alternatively you may not have the required access permissions to view this item. Is the name of the file I need actually called SOLUSDatabase install, If so I can ask my LA for it.
bobsmith Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 login to the site first, then copy and paste the link i gave you....
TwistedHelixis Posted June 17, 2019 Author Posted June 17, 2019 still get the same error. On my LA FTP I can see Solus3DeploymentServerDatabase.exe Solus3DeploymentServicerUI.exe Solus3DeploymentService.exe Would it be on of those or all?
TwistedHelixis Posted June 17, 2019 Author Posted June 17, 2019 Think I might have fixed the issue, will let you know after testing
TwistedHelixis Posted June 17, 2019 Author Posted June 17, 2019 All up and running, phew. For anyone with a similar issue, in the Solus3 folder is the Solus3 connection String Editor, enter the new server instance and then restart the solus service and after a few minutes Solus3 should be working.
