APP-V Permissions

Good afternoon all,

 

I am currently experimenting with AppV5.1. The Management and SQL servers are 2016 and on seperate boxes. i've been following the instructions found here:

It is currently going well. However when I go and add a package to the console I am getting an error:

 

The package O365ProPlusRetail_VisioProRetail_en-us_x86 was not added.

An unexpected error occurred while retrieving the package at \\ygg-vappv\AppVContent$\Office 2016 AppV\AppVPackages\O365ProPlusRetail_VisioProRetail_en-us_x86.appv. Please ensure that it exists and that the package’s file permissions allow the management service to access it.

 

So I'm assuming my permissions are wrong somewhere.

 

Can anyone advise?

Right - that is fixed. Permissions for my users were not in place. Now I have a different error:

 

The package ProPlusVolume_en-us_x86 was not added.

Packages must reside in SMB or HTTP locations.

 

Nothing about this in the docs. The packages simply reside on a drive on the server in a shared folder as outlined in the docs.

Googling furiously. I'm guessing it's something to do with IIS

When you add them via the web console, you need to use the shared folder path, IE: \\DFS\Namespace\Folder\Folder\Program.appv

I thought that was what I am doing...

All sorted - really weird. Went home last night frustrated about it. Read some more and came in this morning and it was suddenly working.

 

So package uploaded and sent to a user. Ideally I want it sent to a machine and not a user as everyone can see everything at the moment.

Create security groups and add your machines (Or machine groups) to it. Then use these security groups to assign the software. We do it this way and it works well.

Hiya @robyholmes - I tried this earlier and it didn't work. Will try again now.

 

My issue at the moment is the app I have in place works for Admin accounts but not for restricted staff accounts. I've had to make a test shortcut directory but it still doesn't show up.
