Hi All,

I just wondered if there's others having pen recognition issues with SBNL6065 series boards before I raise a ticket with SMART tech?

We use a bunch of 6065 boards paired with Windows 10 1809 where 80% of which are unusable as interactive boards due to huge dead spots where the pen at best intermittently works. However on the odd day some will work as should be.

I have:

Updated SMART product drivers to v12.11 (SNB 16.2)

Updated board touch firmware to v2.3.0.4

Shortened USB cables to a single run of <5M

Updated drivers on the PC & kept Windows patched

Changed out PCs with other brands/models

Performed a reset on the board followed by a DViT re-calibration

Checked wall mountings aren't skewed

The boards are out of warranty now and from what I can gather they have never worked properly so staff just use them as fancy displays.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks

Silly question... but have you cleaned the camera windows and reflective tape?

If not, turn off the board and with a clean lint-free cloth, gently wipe the camera windows in the corners which track the pen and clean the reflective tape along the sides.

Cheers for the quick reply

Yup I gave them a wipe down. The reflective strip is a shiny black border around the glass right? Just wondered if it's something that's been peeled off by mistake

It would be very difficult to physically peel off part of the infrared strip!

Just taking everything into account, have you tried using the board with the classroom lights switched off? Certain lights can produce infrared interference. Another thing to try is running a diagnostics report to see if any of the cameras have failed (Although the fact that you say the boards haven't really worked properly since day 1 leads me to believe that it's something to do with the environment as opposed to the physical hardware).

Right click on the smart icon in your icon tray and load up Smart settings. Go to the 'about software' section and select tools, diagnostics. You should see a menu up the top labelled report. Go to local, view. This will load up a report and should give you a 'Pass' or 'Fail' for each camera on the board in question and should give you some indication of whether you're dealing with hardware defect or not.
