Gongalong Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 Hi folks, We have a cluster with two hosts, which were updated along with our Veeam server to 2019 over the Easter hols. Since then we've had nothing but problems with Veeam and checkpoints; Veeam takes a checkpoint to backup, the checkpoint gets stuck partway through, Veeam fails to take a backup, and other VM features like live migration then fallover. It is tedious because it requires shutting down a host, waiting for the VMs to failover to the other host etc. A bit of research suggests switching from "Production" to "Standard" checkpoints, which I am going to test. Veeam Support say there shouldn't be any issue though with Production checkpoints and so far are just putting their hands up in the air and blaming Windows. Anyone else having this issue, and/or got any suggestions? Thanks
sister_annex Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 It's nothing to do with this is it? https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-replication-f2/single-volume-snapshot-for-multiple-vms-vs-max-concurrent-tasks-allowed-for-repo-t57003.html We had a similar issue not so long back, got the hotfix from veeam and all has been good since 1
Gongalong Posted May 20, 2019 Author Posted May 20, 2019 The issue has been logged with Veeam and it's not something they've flagged up. Veeam Support have said that Production checkpoints should work, as checkpoints seem to be the issue. I've done some testing over the weekend where I have switched to Standard checkpoints again, and now all is fine. With Production the checkpoint seems to hang when being created.
