Trying to sort deployment out while doing 15 other jobs at the same time, so sure I've missed something obvious.

I've created a task in mdt with a pause in it so I can manually install some software - I've decided for now it is quicker than automating it all, that will come when I have more time. I installed all the software, did all other tweaks I wanted, all looked fine. I resume the task sequence and it captures a new wim, which is about 15gb so looks like it has everything in it. If I re-boot the vm I just captured, it boots up and all the software is there.

I then import the wim I captured into a new deployment share on mdt, create a new task and deploy it to a client (a vm in this instance, to test). All installs ok, but all the software is missing!

Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?

Its a range of programmes, even stuff like office which worked fine when I first tested it!

I might try manually pushing the wim to a machine from a usb stick, just to make sure I haven't mucked up the deployment task somehow

You're using the correct WIM file aren't you?

I've checked the name in the task sequence and it refers to the correct one. I may re-import it and set it up again to be sure

I rolled my master vm back to before the capture, resumed the task and captured it again. The wim ended up 4gb smaller, but just applied it quickly to test, and all the software. No idea what happened the first time, but working now! Thanks for the help.
