Upgrading Smartcache

Has anyone on here upgrade their Smartcache 1 box? If not coudl a Nix fiend give an educated guess at this scenario. It is basically a box running RedHat. Previously we have stuck more memory in it but we are now wondering if we were to remove the HD from it and slip it into a beefier box if it would just boot and carry on regardless. The only tie in we can think of is to the network card which we could swap along with the HD. Any problems with this anyone can think of? More importantly, if we were to do it is there a possibility that if it failed would it adjust the RedHat settings in such a way that putting it back in the original box wouldn't work?
