Paul_L Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 It would appear since the recent firewall upgrades by BT Lancashire Services, a couple of the schools I look after are having connectivity issues, where Internet pages are ‘timing out’ or getting page ‘not responding’ errors. I have been in contact with BT LS, but they are treating me as a single entity and are saying they can’t see a problem and it must be a local issue to my school. And yet it is happening at more than one of my schools (but not all). So just trying to find out whether anyone else out there in the BT LS land is having issues (and maybe being told the same as me) like me? Thanks in advance. Paul 1
Joanne Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I've not been having any issues in the Burnley area. What DNS servers are you using?
Paul_L Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 I've not been having any issues in the Burnley area. What DNS servers are you using? using 212.219.82.4 and 212.219.83.4 (the very old original) Now been told to try: 5.149.14.5 5.149.14.6 or 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 The last 2 here being Google DNS of course Paul
Joanne Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Do you not have an onsite server that can do the DNS? Things tend to be more reliable then!
Paul_L Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 Do you not have an onsite server that can do the DNS? Things tend to be more reliable then! O! Sorry, they are the forwarders I have been using/told to try
Joanne Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Haha! I was confused too. I'm using the 212 addresses, one is unable to resolve and one is mail.lancsngfl.ac.uk.... do the 5.149 addresses belong to BTLS?

SimpleSi Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 I had issues yesterday trying to use Scratch 3 in an after-school coding club with the laptops taking a long time to load the sites but didn't have time to investigate - just switched to using offline version - I'll direct the school tech to this thread

Mark182 Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Yes getting this in chrome as main browser used, am trying others. We keep getting things like This page isn’t working Google didn’t send any data. ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE or the page just doesn't load, would you mind PM'ing me your ticket number and I can quote it when I am logging a request now
Paul_L Posted May 10, 2019 Author Posted May 10, 2019 Just had confirmation that an issue with the SSL filtering on Lightspeed has been identified, resulting in slow and unresponsive page loads, this is now being investigated. 1
