System shortcut win+Pause/Break

Right. One huge loss to me these days is that so many keyboard & laptop manufacturers have decided we don't need the Pause/Break key any more. Apart from handily pausing POST screens, it's main use is the shortcut used with the Windows key to get to the system menu which is still FAR better than the windows 10 settings based rubbish for changing machine names, domains etc.

Is there any other shortcut to get to the same place? My googlefu is failing me

Do you absolutely HAVE to do this without a mouse?

 

Win + x + y

 

Personally I like the right-click on the start menu in Win 10.

 

But I do prefer doing 'stuff' in the old school 'System' part too, rather than the new Win 10 Windows Settings dialogue (I always get lost in there and forget where things are).

Aha, could be: this is 1809; a check on a service machine with ltsb shows the right one. Bum!

Do you get the 'Settings' app when you choose 'System' from a right-click on the Start button (or Win + x)?

 

Not that it helps with the keyboard shortcut thing, I just wonder how hard MS are making access to the control panel et al these days...

Yeah it does; the only way I can find to get to the original is to open control panel then go to system from there. I suspect, probably like yourself, they're trying to do away with it entirely

Goes to the original one on 1809, so seems odd that win-x-y is any different!

Yeah, it seems to be in most of the Windows 10 'keyboard shortcut' web page searches so I guess it's still valid.

 

For as long as there is a Control Panel/System for it to go to...
