Symbiosis Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Hi all and help please... I have a user on a Win 7 PC. They started to have an issue whereby the monitor would go black on login with just the mouse pointer showing (which they could not move) and after a while they would be returned to the login prompt. They can login elsewhere, and anyone else can login to the PC successfully I've found that if I delete the users profile folder and their entry in the registry, they can log on as normal once - and then the issue re-appears for any subsequent logon attempts Looking at the task manager in Impero it would seem that explorer is not starting. I can send a message to the PC within whilst the screen is black and it shows on the screen, and also plugging in a USB brings up a notification window - so it doesn't appear to be anything to do with display drivers etc. The logs don't show anything out the ordinary At a bit of a loss frankly - any thoughts please?
LTurner3692 Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 I had this with a user, Once the screen came on i had to log off and back on and it normally worked, i didn't leave it like this for long before i put them on Win10 though.
Symbiosis Posted April 29, 2019 Author Posted April 29, 2019 Thanks, unfortunately doesnt make any difference if they are logged off. The issue is there every login
Symbiosis Posted April 29, 2019 Author Posted April 29, 2019 And it was a group policy that was doing this! Found it at least!
