Were looking in to moving away from IWB and Projectors and currently trialling several Touchscreen options. Unless we go for the Promethean option then our Active inspire software will be Un-licensed.

Our Maths department use AI on a daily basis and I`m predicting they wont like the fact they wont be able to use this once the Touchscreens have been installed.

Could any one who`s been in this scenario (I`m sure many) let me know how the staff have taken to this?

AFAIK Clevertouch software (CleverMaths) will allow opening of AI Flipcharts. and they can then save them in CleverMaths.

Thanks

Hello maxrebo

Thanks for posting. :D

I guess the question Is, what's making you move away from Activinspire?

I would definitely suggest looking at Promethean as an offering on the interactive flat panels if you haven't already.

Because you are using Promethean already within the school, Promethean will be very very keen to keep you as a customer and support you on your project to replace the old IWB’s.

The one big positive is, with Activinspire there are no subscription costs, and it looks like it’s going to stay that way, no talks of making it into an annual subscription or charging for it in any shape or form… And as NotSoFast mentioned I would definitely take a look at Classflow. We have regular meetings with Promethean as we are a Gold partner and from the last meeting we had with them there's more integration with Activinspire and Classflow making the collaboration a lot easier than when it was first launched.

In the past, I've heard teachers using the common file format to open their lessons from different types of interactive software, but they never truly open in the way they should, without some major editing from the teachers which is time-consuming.

Happy to help in any way I can, pricing, demonstrations you name it! Even feel free to come over to our demo facility if you're near Sheffield :) We have all the latest and greatest interactive technology on hand.

Ta,

Best thing to do, is try and get a loan model for a couple of days from a range of suppliers. That way staff can have a play, and see which one is the one they can see them using. Don't discount the promethian touch screens, my impression on them is not bad at all. Yes, Smart and Promethian often come out a bit more expensive (or at least did when I used to buy the boards, however, a lot of the time the value added (full software package, extras such as the Smart IQ system) often came out really quite popular, over just a plain android option underneath. The downside however, is when you give people a choice, they will normally go for a system they already know, even if it's not the best option. One of my former schools went for Smart, even after they all said how much they liked the Promethian boards - why? Because they already have smartboards and they like them, even if they thought other boards were better...
