IT TechnicianAt our Church school every individual is valued. We are seeking to appoint an excellent IT Technician to start in September 2019.

Hours: 35 hrs per week (Mon – Fri, 8.30pm – 4.30pm with 1 hr for lunch). This post is for 40 weeks per year (School term time plus inset days and an additional week to be worked in agreement with the Headteacher).

Salary: Old Grade 8/9 (depending on experience). The new salary point is 19-28.

Actual salary is £20,513 - £25,949. Full time equivalent is £24,799 - £31,371

The successful candidate will provide an efficient and reliable IT service to the school.

General Purpose of the Job

To be responsible for the system wide technical support to curriculum and administrativePC’s, laptops, tablets, i-pads, printers and the network installation.

Providing support to the ICT Co-Ordinator in delivering the computing curriculum throughout school.

Main Duties

 

  • Basic routine maintenance
  • Assisting with installation and upgrade of desktop hardware and some software on networked computers, laptops and tablets
  • Carrying out advance procedures under the guidance of contracted ICT professionals
  • Diagnosing and resolving basic p/c, printer and peripheral and software faults
  • Dealing with support requests and fault reporting; keeping and referring to a knowledge base/log of previous incident
  • Referring advanced problems to contracted professionals Purchasing and replacing ICT consumables and maintaining stock, and purchasing other ICT items following school procedure
  • Assisting in maintaining a regular back up and store system, virus protection and system security
  • Creating and maintaining user accounts and permissions
  • Creating and maintaining staff e-mail accounts
  • Keeping an inventory of ICT software, licences and hardware
  • Ensuring that licences are stored in an orderly fashion and they are secure
  • Being aware of specific Health and Safety issues relating to IT
  • Attending relevant courses and use other means to improve ICT skills
  • Advising and training individual staff/pupils where appropriate
  • Having a general understanding of the requirements of ICT in the National Curriculum and being aware of relevant school policies
  • Training other members of staff to install ink cartridges in printers and manage simple problems
  • Working with the ICT Co-Ordinator to develop the use of the learning platform

 

Computing Curriculum Support

 

  • Support in the development and implementation of policies, and practices for ICT
  • Support with the analysing and interpreting of relevant national, local and school data, research and inspection
  • Ensuring that existing resources are in good order and readily accessible
  • Supporting the technical infrastructure, and contribute directly to the development of skills and resources relating to ICT in the school
  • Supporting the schemes of work for the computing curriculum
  • Keeping an inventory of existing resources
  • Support with ensuring that sections of the school website are kept up to date
  • Supporting to ensure that policies are in place and staff and pupils are aware of school protocol for using the internet
  • Liaise with colleagues advising of websites which would be useful to them in their planning and teaching
  • Support with Internet Safety

Other Duties

 

 

  • Provide support and assistance for the school website acting as one of the administrators
  • Ensuring that the school’s sound system is in good working order at all times
  • Undertaking duties in relation to the CCTV system as required
  • To undertake any other tasks, as directed by the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher, which are consistent with the aims of the post.
