We are looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic individual as a teacher of Computing and ICT. The Business & Computing Department is well-resourced at Balshaw’s. There are classrooms with ICT suites in them as well as specialist computers in classrooms such as Design Technology along with bookable laptops. Each teacher at Balshaw’s is also issued with their own laptop computer.

We are looking to recruit the best teacher possible to this role whether they are an NQT or an experienced teacher looking for the opportunity to work in an outstanding school with a reputation for excellence in South Ribble. The role is initially a 12 month contract whilst a review of the structure of the department takes place.

The Department offers GCSE Computer Science at KS4 as well as GCSE Business. Computer Science is a popular option for students and all students study Computing throughout KS3 where they are taught for 3 hours over a fortnight.

Balshaw’s is the Hub School for the Computing At Schools (CAS) network for the Chorley and South Ribble school districts and prides itself on driving the subject forward. The school is fortunate to have good links with Microsoft UK through one of the members of the governing body who is a senior employee of the Microsoft Corporation.

The ICT infrastructure is extremely well-supported by the Network Team under the direction of the Network Manager. There is Wi-Fi throughout the school; the network is highly stable and the school is looking to use Microsoft cloud services as part of Office 365 to store staff and student work. Staff are able to access all school services via remote application services.
