WestCoastCumbria Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Hello, We may be going for 1:1 iPad scheme at around 330 iPads which will be leased. The total cost will be over £100,000 does that trigger the procurement policy for four tenders? Thank You.
Cache Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 I think it will depend on your school policy, here it would be a full tender process, potentially OJEU but I honestly don't know what the limits are for that - I suspect you will be close.
Fazza Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 It all depends on what your School/Academy's procurement policy is - each school/academy is different. Ours doesn't even mention OJEU but when I worked in FE, it did so a few times we had to do that.
WestCoastCumbria Posted March 21, 2019 Author Posted March 21, 2019 Looking into it a bit further it seems legally there is a procedure to follow but we are under the OJEU limit.

I have been out to tender for 1-2-1 iPad before, the thing is to be very clear in the specification what exactly you want - do you just want the iPads in the boxes or are you looking at a support system around it? you will get free apple training for an order that size through an apple reseller. What about insurance, cases etc? Apple do not give a big margin to their resellers to be able to do much about competing too much with the apple kit itself the difference will be with the other stuff, the clearer you can be at the start the easier it will be to decide in the end. Hth Steve If it does go ahead we will be looking at full support with an MDM, Apple School Manager, cases, insurance, basically whatever it takes to make it seamless and working. BUT need staff and parents onboard!!

Yes that would be what I would look for, we also specified Apple Authorised Reseller to get the ongoing support, also Apple Authorised Training Provider but in the end I don't know how much that really mattered. Think about how much support you do need for setup - we're a special school and DEP is good but it needed us to do it, do you need time with tech to help? feel free to pm for any more info! Steve 1
